The decisions we make in life are influenced by many things. The way that we see the world is often impacted by what we have seen in the world. Our life experiences have a shaping force in our lives. This can be a good thing. Walking through the valleys of life followed by the climbs to the mountain top, the joys and the sorrows, the defeats and the victories - all of these things are tools that God uses to form us into His image.

Early in the book of Acts, Peter and John share with us how they have been formed by their experiences. After Jesus' ascension to heaven in Acts chapter 1, Peter goes all in on spreading the good news of the Gospel wherever he goes. Victories come quickly. The Holy Spirit descends and empowers the apostles and people begin to respond by the thousands. Peter is on the mountain top! But you only need to read a few more chapters to see Peter's circumstances bring him down from the mountain and head straight for a deep valley.

It is in this moment that Peter and John reveal the motivation behind their life transformation.

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Acts 4:19-20

Christian, you and I have experienced the saving work of Jesus Christ in our lives. Jesus has transformed us, making us into a new creature. We have seen this transforming power in others, but more than that, we have experienced it for ourselves. Let us allow the work that Christ has down for us motivate us to share this good news wherever we go and with whomever we meet.
